Why A House?

Throughout history houses have been influential in the advancement of God's Kingdom and He made His presence known in amazing ways. In houses food was served, oil multiplied, the Holy Spirt dwelled, glory-filled, churches birthed, the sick healed and dead raised, plans decided, hope created, dreams cemented, destinies revealed, gifts bestowed, and lives changed.

Mission Base

Our house just happens to be a base we do mission from to serve the Dutchtown neighborhood of  South St. Louis and to travel to the ends of the earth. We spent a couple of years off and on serving in Africa and then returning to the States to stay in friends' basements living out of suitcases. It was through those experiences we saw the value and need to have our own homebase to come and go from.

Where did the name come from?

A few different things heavily influenced the name.  First is the verse from II Corinthians,

"Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom."

We desire the house to a place where the Holy Spirit is welcomed and experienced. We need freedom in so many areas of our lives and we believe that comes through knowing the Truth and encountering the Holy Spirit. Jesus said knowing Him would set people free so what better name than the House of Freedom.

Another key moment came at a missions conference in Holland focusing on reaching the 50 closed nations of the earth. It was during one of the sessions the name "House of Freedom" just resonated so loudly and clearly. It began to play over and over in our heads. At the time we didn't know what it would be the name for. Ultimately it became clear it would be the name of our mission's base in St. Louis, MO.
